Before we became a hotel, we were a way of welcoming people
The story of Hotel Playa Carmen began long before its rooms even existed. It began at the bar of a seaside pub on the Barbate seafront, where Nani, our father, made hospitality second nature. To him, no one was a stranger: just someone he hadn’t yet had the chance to welcome.
That spirit of care – of knowing the name of everyone who walks through the door and offering the very best from our larder – is what defines every corner of our hotel today. We are not a chain; we are a family.

In 2000, that spirit took another step forward. El Nani decided to create Barbate’s first hotel with a very clear vision: not simply to build a block of rooms, but to open a home for those who came to discover the magic of our coastline.
